Why don’t we see more PPV on the Web? We will now.

Did you ever wonder why we don’t see more PPV live streaming over the ‘net? It would see to be the perfect venue for top tier and even middle and lower tier acts who can sell out the venues whether it be stadiums or clubs and to provide an additional source of revenue without a lot of additional expense.
That “additional” is wherein lies the rub. The additional cost is unpredictable and inestimable primarily, or rather exclusively because of piracy, stream stealing and rebroadcasting and credential sharing, which results in additional bandwidth costs which could be significant.
Take, for example, in February 2016, Tidal live-streamed the Kanye West show from Madison Square Garden with the intention that each person logged in to the stream would have to pay the subscription price of $8.99. Although Tidal had just under 3 million subscribers, they stated that over 20 million people had logged into the stream.
This shows that 3 million paid subscribers shared their access credentials to the live stream with an unanticipated 17 million unsubscribed viewers, causing streaming failures. The streaming failed and the show did not proceed, which was good for Tidal which would have had to cover the cost of bandwidth associated with 20 million viewers. If everyone had been able to watch the entire stream at 1080p without the stream failing, at the lowest advertised cost for streaming bandwidth, Tidal would have incurred an additional bandwidth cost of $15,576,624!
So, instead of creating and additional revenue source from the same show, this piracy would have wiped out all of the profit from the entire show (and then some).
So, instead of creating and additional revenue source from the same show, this piracy would have wiped out all of the profit from the entire show (and then some).
However, this need not be the case for much longer. A company in Florida called TiltedGlobe had received a patent for a new technology which is able to prevent all of the major forms of piracy. – Stream Hacking (Middleman Attack), Credential Sharing, Downloading (Encryption/ player authorization).
TiltedGlobe had a soft launch a short time ago and although the product worked the Company has tweaked some significant improvements. The Company has four executed contracts with early adopter clients
Contract1 – Company provides live and on demand entertainment. Most notably is their relationship and streaming contracts including the 12 largest F3 & F4 races in North America to its over 7 million fan base. TiltedGlobe Expected Contract Revenue: $18.7million per annum expected to triple with upcoming increases in live event frequency and content diversity
Contract 2 – Company provides live concerts monthly. Past Christmas show grossed $5million in revenues from 250,000 live streaming purchase beating out revenues from the sold out 20,000 seat stadium in which the concert was held. Company seeks to run their own streaming platform powered by TiltedGlobe technology to control their own subscriber and customer base. TiltedGlobe Expected Contract Revenue: $5 million per annum expected to double with on-demand services
Contract 3 – Company provides live concerts and on demand content. Has contracts with multiple artists in the R&B, hip-Hop and Rap spaces. Company seeks to run their own streaming platform powered by TiltedGlobe technology to control their own subscriber and customer base. TiltedGlobe Expected Contract Revenue: $4 million per annum
Contract 4 – New Broadcast network with targeted programming for the Millennium audiences. TiltedGlobe Expected Contract Revenue: $4 million per annum
The company is seeking $6 million mainly for marketing and building some part of the delivery system and to enable a more automated and “low-touch” delivery system.
